DAOS and the 64GB limit

We have a database which is close to 64 GB limit. We would like to enable it with DAOS, so the file size would be much smaller. Does the 64 GB database limit still applies to Domino 8.5? And for DAOS-enabled databases, does it apply to logical size, or physical size?

What is the maximum number of DAOS attachments on a Domino server - found it mentioned as 1000 directories x 40000 files per directory = 40 millions, but directory names of '0000' template would result in maximum number of 10K directories and 400M files. Which is true?

DAOS and the 64GB limit
The answer is that DAOS can effectively mitigate the 64GB limit if you have a lot of attachment data. The 64GB limit is the maximum physical size that the Notes database (.NSF) can reach. So, by using DAOS, you can reduce the physical size of the NSF. The "logical size" of the database (the one reported in the database properties) remains the same.

We had one early design partner who used this trick to create a 2TB logical NSF (just to see if it could be done).

Maximum number of DAOS files
For the initial release of DAOS, the default number of containers supported is 1000 and the default number of NLO's per container is 40,000, so a total capacity of 40,000,000 objects.
